"C.W. Moss" of Bonnie & Clyde fame = W.D. Jones + Henry Methvin, the two gang members who became a composite of the fictitious C.W. Moss.
Is that what you mean, gz??? Marshall ADDED: The "why" part of your question - W.D. Jones was still alive when the 1967 movie was made. There was concern that movie goers or family members of Bonnie & Clyde would get the idea that W.D. "Deacon" Jones was the gang member who had betrayed B & C to Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and the police. The made-up C.W. Moss character was the movie's writers'/producer's way of protecting him against possible retaliation. 'Didn't do W.D. any good, though - he was shotgunned to death in the 1970's by the jealous boyfriend of a girl W.D. had picked up in a bar. Last edited by Marshall V. Daut; 06-28-2025 at 11:24 PM. |
