Question Muffler Floor Insulation

I have a few of these from Leslie Pam on my cars and need another one. I cannot find his contact anywhere. Is he still in business and does anyone have his contact information?

Thanks,
Vic

David:
His product is a metal shroud that covers the top of the muffler and comes around the sides at a 45 degree angle. It is held on with U-clamps in front of and behind the muffler. It really works.

Or make your own

I used muffler clamps, coupler nuts, and something like

There is an ad in the Model A News for Leslie's "Kool-Feet" insulated muffler shield.

I got a couple from him last summer. At that time he said he was getting out of that line and once his stock was gone, that's it. His email address is [email protected].

This is great news! One of the club members gave me one of these when I first joined and it’s still sitting on the shelf in my garage. Yee hah!

Most heat (75%+) transfers by radiation, so a reflective metal shield is an effective way to block the heat. Here is my inexpensive and easy to do technique.

What's the hole in the passenger side for? Perhaps checking trans oil?

I've used products from this company for years. Outstanding stuff. My wife complains now that she can't warm her feet on the floorboards with their stuff installed. If you have questions call Mike Z for tech support. Super smart guy.

The caveat to adding more weight to the exhaust is that it puts more strain on the exhaust manifold. They tend to warp and slump over time without adding further weight. If they just had a forward support, they would be fine but Ford didn't make it that way.

I've posted a number of times how I overcome that. I use a spring, hose clamp and a piece of wire to connect the exhaust just in front of the muffler to the engine mount. I realise that is not for the show car but I drive mine (lots).

Do you use a heavy spring such as a brake spring. Sounds like a good idea i may try.

Yup, something like a brake spring. I am a bit of a horder so there is a tin of springs in the workshop. I just selected one that I thought would be about right. The tension can be set when you tie it to the muffler by playing with the length of the wire.

My car has a layer of insulation between the floor boards and the carpet. It came with the heat shield but I found that it did not make any difference and rattled. So I took it out and gave it away.

My car's floorboard on the starboard side has the same hole. My transmission has a piece of pipe in the hole that is used to fill the transmission. At the top of the pipe is a pipe cap with a hole to allow an engine dip stick to be used. It makes it easy to check the oil and add oil.

Hi Ruth! The extra hole on the passenger's side of the floor is to make it easier for my 82-year-old body to service the transmission oil.
