Default 1933 hood/grill gap help

Need help, advice on my 33 coupe, I have a half inch or so gap between my hood and grill. The center strip is adjusted all the way up with the front and rear brackets. The hood gap is good at the cowl, but short in the grill top area. Seems like the radiator needs more tilt. I also have a small gap where the hood latches are near the fenders, Any thoughts/tricks on this? Thanks

Can you take a photo of from the top at the grille to hood and one of the side to the grille and one more from the bottom of the hood to the inner fender. Maybe one at the sides of the cowl would help too.

There's a reason that '33-'34 grills originally had flat black paint between the raised portion of the grill and the hood lacing on the grill.

this thread came after a search for '32 grill tilt' and i don't want to start another.

Q: why do some grill shells tilt forward at the top?

i thought it might be because the hood side panels were styled a bit longer at the front edge bottom, but figured you guys could set it straight (no pun intended!)

thanks

Radiator shops frequently get the replacement angle of the top tank wrong with 33/34 radiators. I make a light wooden mandrel [original rads] to check the top tank angle. fits on the back side of the rad under the top tanks. Share your mandrel with the rad shop doing your rad. Newc

One of the toughest jobs I have attacked in a while . Aligning a 33-34 hood and grill . This is a tough one or it was for me

Last one we did needed a little tune-up on the leading edge of the hood tops. Still needed flat black on rear lip of the grille before the lacing was installed; we used vinyl wrap instead of paint.

Q: if i read yellow/ black/ chrome/ black/ primer - where is the vinyl wrap?

(sorry if i don't know if the chrome is chrome, stainless, or nickel)

i'm lost by the irregular black on the yellow tape.

thanks,

sid

Think the irregular "black" is just a reflection off the chrome that is not covered by chunks of yellow tape securing the poster board to the grille. I had further masking when I was tack welding the pieces onto the hood which had been removed in this picture.

The area I covered with matte black wrap was from just down a bit on the raised area of the grille and all the way to the back edge of the grille.

The idea is to make the gap between the chrome of the grille and edge of the hood top and sides be not as noticeable (area between the arrows in this picture).
