The wheels in the old pic look a lot like some old Firestone aftermarket wheels I had. Conical center shape, and took a center cap similar in size to a 35 Ford. But my wheels were 16”.

yes the cap did look like the old caps. Purhaps they were made aftermarket as well.

Apparently the same sized wheels were also used on cars:

Those wheels look to be the 5 x 5.5” pattern wheels I found record of. They are K-H 23403 / Ford CO1A-1015 (or is it C01A-1015? I couldn’t tell from the old reference.) Sold in set #1331. Semi-drop centered with the extreme offset described above. Finding a set could be life’s work, or even recreating a set a daunting task. The 9” wide tires should not be forced onto too narrow of a donor rim.

Even the M-H set I found record of would have been produced by an outside vendor. Probably Kelsey Hayes as well. Stu

I just took a look on ebay and there are a lot of 13" wheels with 5 lug (4 or 4.5) . Of course most are 4 1/2" wide, but 13" wheels for ATVs are plentiful and typically 7" wide. These could be some good hoop material. Should be a lot of '35 wheels out there that are junk, but the centers are fine. I have four on a yard art model A here, but too good to cut up. I wonder what the ID of the 13" x 7" hoops are.

I’m stumped now. I just went through wheel industry technical references 1935 to 1949 and find no listing for a 13” rim. Nothing. No agricultural, motor scooter, industrial, construction, etc, applications at all. These industry references are what were used to standardize the manufacture of wheels before the government stepped in with OSHA and its predecessor agencies. K-H, Budd, Motor Wheel, Firestone, and Goodyear were members of the Tire and Rim Association and National Wheel and Rim Association so would have complied with their guidelines. So I’ve hit a wall on this.

Unless it goes back to my earlier comment about military applications not being referenced in civilian publications until many rears after their classification release. Who knows.

Like Gary suggests some modern 13” wheel or rim can be found that would allow the recreation of a suitable set of wheels. Stu

I saw a pair once at a friends place. Don't know what happened to them. He moved away and I have lost contact with him. They were 5 on 5-1/2" and had badly perished sand tyres on them.
