Did we actually pre-order any? I know I did not give anything to secure the order other than my word that I would take a few sets. My feeling is this is probably "it" as far as production goes. (40 sets X $540 per set = a lot of capitol outlay for someone!)

Did we not put up a list to [if they were to be done] we needed 100 sets? So we hit the amount and then why the 40 sets only???? Hello am i missing something here? I would send the money for them or make the call but for me i was going to sit them back and not use them. This means 60 other orders will not be filled? I rather see someone who needs a set for their 1931 then me. ! and me being one of the lucky ones of 40.

Hi Everyone,
I just talked to Tom at Rootlieb and he has 40 sets of boards from a previous run that he found. I will be sending him our list so he can contact them for payment for those who are interested at that price. He had the clutch on the press repaired and he ran some pieces and then the clutch "blew up" again so he is perplexed as to what to do at this point. He is going to try to rebuild the clutch again and make these boards again. Right now if you are in dire need please send you check to Tom at rootlieb as this could possibly be the last 40 ever made. Sorry for this confusion but it is out of my control, Ken ![]()

My point in posting the thread, I don't need a set, but I knew others may be desperate. Best to buy when avaialble, cause you never know. |

Hey guys, I might be interested in a set of these running boards if there are any left. But first, tell me more:
1) I have a 31 Coupe, will they fit on it? 2) If so, about what is included; are they complete with the rubber pad and edge trim? |

Yes. The rubber pad is vulcanized onto the metal board, and has a nice rubber border around the diamond pattern. There is a Zinc piece of trim on the front side of the board (edge trim)
Your other option is to sandblast your old boards and use the diamond rubber mat that the vendors sell. There is no finished rubber border edge. My Vicky has the rubber stick on mat and I just ordered the Rootlieb boards because they look much better.

Phil, Yes these would fit your 31 coupe. These are complete running boards with rubbber and edge. These boards are the best reproduction available, as far as the most accurate. They have not been available for quite awhile. This fall a list was formed with about 150 people saying they would want a pair if Rootlieb was to make more. They found about 40 pair and are sellling them. I think their are working up the list first.

Jason in Tx and 31 Tudor:
Thanks for your responses. I have a couple more questions for you guys or others who might want to respond: 1) For my 31 Coupe, what is the correct zinc trim; is it supposed to go all the way around, just three sides or just the outside edge? 2) Is the the correct configuration of the zinc trim the same for all 31 body styles? 3) Finally, if I call them to order and there are any left, do I go on a waiting list or is it first come first served? |

1) For the 1931 Coupe, the correct trim is Zinc on only the outside edge
2) Yes. it is just supposed to be Zinc on the outside edge for all 1931 body styles (discounting commercial, or unusual bodies like firetrucks, delivery, etc) 3) If you call them, they put a pair of them in the mail today. He said there were around 5 pairs left when I spoke to him yesterday. He has no immediate plans to make any more because his equipment is broken, and this isn't his only business. He sells other things as well. So if you want them, call sooner rather than later, or you'll be kicking yourself.
