Default V8 Times - Jan-Feb 2025

My Jan-Feb 2025 V8 Times arrived in todays mail.
It actually beat the release of the on-line Digital Copy.

Wow! Never heard of that before. I'm guessing the printer released the international copies early, and somehow you got quick delivery all the way down there.

I wish they would change the cover format back to the way Jerry Windle did it - Two different cars - one on the front cover and the other on the back cover...

Jerry Windle did an excellent job with that magazine...He is sorely missed...

Yep ! Jerry Windle was a top editor and the V8 Times has taken a dive since he retired. The difference here could be that he was a real FORD man. Living in Australia was a problem with delivery of the magazine which since Covid was generally late or I did not get it at all and then had to chase it up. After more than fifty years a V8 club member I have pulled the pin on it. The cost in Australian dollars became to high to be of value. Regards, Kevin.

The V8 TImes can "only" print, what "YOU" the members send in "To be printed" and shared. Simple math...the more that gets sent, the more that will be printed!!! Shannon can only publish what she gets (as did Jerry) SO step up to the plate and make it better. I recall a few times sending my submissions to Jerry for printing and in future conversations with him, he wasn't able to publish them right away do to the plethora of material he had (or saved it for a more appropriate themed he was developing issue) to "choose" from!!!! AND yes, Jerry was an Icon with the V8 times, agreed!!!

Robert, I don't believe you could have stated this better.

In my opinion too many folks are quick to criticize but have little to zero clue as to what efforts are required to do this job.

While I was researching and writing "It's Ford for '40" I had so many complaints as to why it was taking so long, I nearly quit.
Again, too many folks that simply had no idea of the efforts required. And apparently no other things to occupy their time. Me? I was attempting to write a book while living day to day with all that that requires.
I had advertised at one point for some specific help (fordor sedan details) and had but ONE person step up. Without him, it may very well have taken me an additional year to research and write. He and I remain good friends.

So guys, as Robert has so eloquently stated in his post, but in my words... "step up or shut up".

I thought when Bob McCoppin (spelling?) passed the V8 times would never be the same again. Then Jerry came along, and he turned out just fine. Give Shannon some time and I'm sure she'll be great too.

Well said. Members need to step up and send in articles of tours, articles regarding meets, restoration articles by car owners, etc. It takes a LOT of work to put a magazine or a book together and get it ready to publish. My wife worked for 7 years for Lorin Sorensen and typed Ford Life and his big Ford books. I got a real lesson on what it takes to put publications together, get it printed and out to the reader. I'm just thankful that we still actually have a print issue of the V-8 Times.

Kube & TJ

The same, in essence, can be said about the EFV8 Club and more so, its Regional Groups. We "Need" our members - as the old saying goes.....Many hands make light work!!!!!
