With Hagerty, I have an agreed upon value and I will also receive the car back if it is totaled. These were "extras" to my premium, but it all still comes in under $400 a year. |

Another problem with this, if your vehicle is totaled, the title is now scarred for life.

This is important. I really need to know what "Newc" went through. I left "Condon & Skelly" because I couldn't get a read on their handling of a claim. Many said that Hagerty did what was promised. If this is not the case, we need to know.

Phaetons have dropped off over the last 10 years
I have a 35 and it has little value in its current state. A fella on FB has been trying to sell a nice running 35 phaeton and started at 28k. He is down to 19k and I believe it can be bought for 17k. I have toyed with dumping mine and buying his, but I dont need anymore cars. Its in New England on FB. Needs a top, but a nice driver. PS I have a beautiful top for it! |

I am on the appreciative end of the drop in prices. Now thanks to being in that prime age bracket and prices have dropped I can afford to buy a 38 Phaeton and a 38 Ford coupe. 10 years ago I couldn't afford either one, much less both.

Good for you. One of my favorite Ford grills on that Phaeton. Am I correct to identify the Phaeton as the Deluxe and the coupe as the Standard? I assume the number of taillights is also a clue.

An extremely handsome pair of automobiles. Can we get a side view of them? 7.50 x 16s on the rear of the coupe?

Me too. As a Hagerty customer his statement is kinda important. From what little I understand they sell an "assigned value" policy. I think (ya right) the industry "norm" is they like to total a rig around 65% of value. Perhaps he didn't place enough value on his car when he signed up (just speculating).
Anyways, he could do all of us a favor by giving some particulars |

The coupe is a standard. I really like 38 Ford coupes, and wanted a standard since the Phaeton is a deluxe. Quote:
Picture of the Phaeton in front of a field with Texas bluebonnets, and a picture of the coupe the day I bought it. The coupe has a lowered front end, 15 inch wheels, and a terrible hydraulic brake conversion with 5.5 bolt pattern wheels. I happen to have another 38 standard coupe that only needs almost everything except the front suspension I already swapped under it. Some time in the not too distant future will find both cars side by side with parts being traded between the two coupes. I will end up with factory cable brakes (I know, most people go the other way) with correct height and proper wheels & hubcaps. Last edited by 38 coupe; 02-15-2025 at 06:03 PM. |

Since we haven't heard back from "Newc", I have come to the conclusion that his experience was an anomaly that we need not concern ourselves with. Every other Hagerty customer making a claim I have heard of was completely satisfied with their performance. I have heard that they offer something called "Cherished Coverage". It costs very little and if your car is totaled you get the full amount of the agreed upon insured value AND you get to keep the car if you so desire. It sounds like a desirable feature. What it all boils down to is that as the owner of a desirable valuable car, you have the responsibility of knowing exactly the kind of coverage you have. |

I am also a Hagerty customer, and would like to hear more of the details here. I guess I wasn't aware of 'cherished value' that some have written about I better review my policy ![]() I've never really heard of anyone having problems with Hagerty or even Grundy.... I just now read about the Cherished Value coverage it said the cost is 15% of the comp and collision cost.... Last edited by Jeff/Illinois; 02-15-2025 at 09:18 PM. |
