You probably need to look at it in person. I have been to this shop a total of 6 different times and had a chance to view everything firsthand. I received 6 customer vehicle projects out of this shop after the owner passed away last February. These two Coupes were abandoned by their respective owners because the costs to repair the bodies exceeded what was prudent to spend. I would recommend you inspect them prior to bidding.

That's a shame that they were abandoned. I'm sure they will sell for much less than what it took to get them to that point. The area I live in has a couple of restoration shops and they will tell an A owner that show condition will start at about $50k, and anything above that will be dictated by what they find when they strip it. Which is why I do as much on my own as I can.

I was thinking of bidding on some small items that can be shipped for a small amount-maybe.

I've been looking at the site for a couple of days and plan to go look in person after the roads clear. So far I have a wish list of lot numbers, but really need to see what's in the cabinets.

Hello Guys, My name is Linford and I own the auction company that is handling this auction. Thanks for sharing here on the forum. If you guys have any questions or need anything please reach out to me.

There may be ways to coordinate some shipping/transport of items that we normally wouldn't ship so if you see something you really want but it says shipping not available for this item, reach out to me and we will see what we can do.

I'm not going to bid on any of the new parts only used items and a few tools.
JAK has looked out for me, and is a friend so I'm not going to bid against him, a group of my friends have also made the same decision.

Didn't see many "good bargins" bid on a few things but didn't end up with any.

Got four crankshafts at $20 each... if the bearings are good on one of them it'll be a bargain. I saw some other folks get bargains on new or like-new items:
  • SS bumpers for 40% off retail
  • Snyder's shocks for 40% off retail
  • Headers for 40% off retail
  • Burtz 6.5 heads for 50% off retail
  • Spring covers for 50% off retail
  • FSI distributors for 60% off retail
  • 3.78 ring and pinion for 60% off retail
  • Snyder's rebuild connecting rods for 75% off retail

If you were in the market for NIB stuff, this was a good auction.

That is a lot of inventory of new items, not what I would expect from a resto shop.

I hope so. I bought all of the shelf bins of the new Model-A parts. I also bought his sewing machine as a spare simply because it was like brand new. When I looked at it last year, I doubt a full spool of thread has been used on it.

As far as other items, I paid-up for a few items (4 sediment bulbs, dome lights, etc.) that I have an immediate need for them since they are currently out of production, so yeah not any bargains in that regard. What I did learn is tools & equipment bring stupid money. Did y'all see where that ceiling fan brought over $6k with premium added? Even powered hand tools and clamps were bringing strong money.

Bruce, I knew Jon for many years ...and was there at his shop about 6 times last year picking up projects, so I got to see most of this stuff firsthand. Responding to your comment, -being polite, Jon was all about the 'show' for his shop visitors and prospective clients.

My club here in Raleigh, North Carolina, is organizing an amalgamation of items won at the auction into one shipment rather than several.

I enjoyed the auction and thought the auctioneers did a great job of running it.

I was very surprised at some of the prices. Tools were mentioned...good golly...sure, some of the tools were originally quite expensive, but now they're used, and some of them quite used. For the pieces I was interested in, I shopped around when the auction opened to figure out "market value" and was quite surprised at the amount of money he had invested in some of the tools.

That said, the tools were still _used_ tools, and some of them 20+ years old, but they still brought considerable money; more than what I found many of them online in auction results for the same thing.

I got a chuckle out of whoever paid $43 for the used mop bucket and mop. Sure, there was a new mop head included and sure, the whole set is $110 from Lowes...but _used_ mop buckets generally don't hold their value. Particularly when there were three bidders that took it up the final value.

As promised, I didn't bid on any of the new parts. Compared to new prices, some went low, but there were some that came very close to, or even exceeded, their new part values. Used parts sold fairly high as well. The two engine blocks for $500 kind of surprised me...I have a block that I'd be happy to give away...but even be happier if someone gave me $250 for it!

The lots I did buy included some tools I was planning on buying anyway. The final price was more than I'd normally wanted to have paid for used tools, but for the convenience of getting everything at one go...it was worth it to me. I did get a couple of the "job lots" of used parts, and was okay with the prices. Hopefully, there will be some bits in there that I can use; the rest will end up (again, hopefully) given away or sold to other collectors.

I did get the (literal) piles of nails, screws, and electrical parts at the end of the auction. I think I'll be set for those bits for a while. I'll need to find a dumpster on the way home to get rid of some of the stuff in there, however.

Overall, it was fun. I didn't get everything I wanted, but that's the usual and I'm happy with what I got.

That’s interesting, I’m in that club and I haven’t heard anything.

Edit: Confusion resolved.
