Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
For those who are contemplating knee replacements--- The cortisone injections help until they don't. I used to ask my doctor "How will I know it is time for the surgery instead of the injections?". His reply--"You body will tell you" I had both knees done at the same time--10 years ago. Here are my thoughts-- If both knees need replacement, do them at the same time-- ---Unlike Spinal Tap, there is no "11" on the pain scale. --- Commit to doing ALL the therapy or don't have the surgery. ---Plan on being the over achiever when it comes to PT--whatever the exercise and the number of reps or the time --do a little more. ---Get off the really heavy duty pain meds ASAP---I really mean as soon as POSIIBLE--use them --don't subject yourself to pain for no reason, but then get off them. My career was spent in Soils and Foundation Engineering as a field and lab technician; not an professional Engineer, but, over the tears i had experienced a lot, learned a lot and retained most of it. After my knee replacements, i was back at work, still taking the Oxy--whatever, and the Engineer asked a obscure technical question, and I KNEW the answer--but I couldn't "access" it right then. I quit the Oxy--whatever, immediately. The risk was just too great. Get well soon! |
