I fully agree with Keith True's post- don't clamp it up until it fits well. Bending a Model A muffler pipe can be tough for some-but it can be done. I personally don't use the stainless system. The rear clamp I bought 15 years ago came with a strip of heat-proof material similar to asbestos. It's still there and doing it's job. My rear clamp is just slightly loose-no rattles but I feel it has enough slack to move with expansion. I don't think I would use rubber on the tail pipe-It gets hot enough to burn it up.
