Lou,
They (81s)are out there. You'll locate them, be patient. As encouragement, I rebuilt two 81s for my B banger. Never having done such, took time/patience/few special tools and talking/learning from carb guys. The reward...they ran beautifully from the first startup! Invested approx $450 total. lol

Thanks, I know I'll locate some in time. That is why I was putting out feelers but I expect I'll find them at the swap meets or from someone in my EFV-8 chapter.

I got one on a complete 60hp V8 that a bought. I very carefully rebuilt that one and then bought a nice rebuilt one from Ken CT. These will go on a basically stock 85hp 21 stud engine as a 2x2 set up. Check with Ken, he may be able to help you. JM

JM, I know that you mean well and I thank you. I could not use that source based on experience.

Are 81's better than 97's? I thought 97's were the ones to have .Or is it a matter of personal preference? Just curious.

81's flow slightly less cfm than 97's, they came from the v-8 60's. And, in case you don't know, 48's flow slightly more cfm than 97's. It probably does not matter much so, yes, it is a matter of personal preference and tuning.
