Drove down to the optometrist's this morning for the yearly exam. He said my cataracts were getting worse and I should sell the car to him.

I finished one last generator before Hershey. This is a custom built 12 volt, negative ground, fork mount, 2-brush generator with the fan mount pulley. a bit of a Unicorn! This was built using parts from 3 different generators. It includes a NOS Ford 12 volt armature, NOS brush plate, new 12 volt field coils, brushes, new brush springs and new sealed bearings. This should work on a 1933-1947 Ford flathead V8.

I'll have this on my table at Hershey, stop by and say hi. South chocolate field CJ 71-73, near light pole 61.

Looking forward to stopping at your table in Hershey on Monday. I bet your display of generators and cutouts will be amazing!

Thanks Dave - I look forward to seeing you and the flathead V8 gang. I've been working overtime the last few weeks trying to get a good variety of generators ready for Hershey. I've lost count, but I think there are over 20 of them, plus an assortment of refurbished cutouts.

I just fired up an old 21 stud that has been sitting for over 30 years. It took a little TLC, but I got her running.

Put about 400 miles on the 40 going to the New Port Hill Climb
Oct 4 to Oct 6.
Made the trip with NO ISSUES. No sale but averaged 60 mph on the trip

Started doing some body repairs to the roof panels on my 32 sedan. This is in preparation for fitting a roof insert.

Finally got back to working on my car. It has a later Mallory dual point distributor (with a RED cap; I noticed the black plastic paint I used on it is starting to flake in one corner so it has to go). I have an SBC Mallory "flattop" (converted by "Charlie NY") ready to go in. Today, I made the plug wires (Packard 440 and Rajah terminals), and it's goin' in this weekend.

Seriously, get them taken care of. 30 years ago I could not drive at night because of the diffusion of oncoming headlights. Having my cataracts removed (which was a nothing deal by the way) not only made night driving practical again, but saved me from buying prescription eye glasses for 15 years (I need a mild correction now).

I was apprehensive, so I had them done one at a time to make sure I had at least one good eye. Looking back, that was probably unnecessary.

Have seen the pictures and video of this event on YouTube. Looks like a great one to be able to attend. Did you get any pictures?

Good luck on selling the 40, you will miss it. I just sold the 48, miss it a lot.

Raced at TROG this weekend. Got knocked out in the semi's. I learned Firestones don't do well in the sand. Oh well, lesson learned and will be back next year with better rear tires.

Just plain WOW!, Tim. Ever since I first became aware of this event I have wanted to go to see it in person. But to actually compete. Heck Yah! Guess I will live vicariously through your efforts, but one of these days I hope to be on the sidelines rooting for you, or better yet.... On your pit crew! Would LOVE to see a thread on your car, it's preperation and the trip.

I have two (2) 40-41 4 cylinders. One is rebuilt and the other is something I bought just to take it apart.

Hi Mark:

Thank you. Haha, I wish I was able to pull the front wheels up. There were two bumps in the course. That picture was after hit one of them. My buddy said all four wheels were off the ground, but he didn't get that in his picture.

Sincerely,

Tim
