Does your handle have 2 or 4 holes in it ? I have seen handles and shafts redrilled to repair a botched original hole . Make sure you’re not looking at a old fix .

I finally got the frozen pin out. Fortunately for me both handle and shaft have four holes, because I mangled the hole in use by drilling out the pin. The door handle came off easier, but not without damaging the escucheon. The escucheons were both the usual aftermaket things that are 1/8" thicker than the original equipment, making installation hard and removal very hard. I will be replacing those with the generic '32 - '48 stainless ones, which I hope are easier to work with. |
