The Optima @ Napa was $257 before tax and core charge.

Yeah, got one from NAPA a couple years ago- it was $220 something. I always think about how many farm store batteries I could get for that outlay.......then I think about how the Optima 6v spins these things over.

Just curious - anybody know the cold cranking amps of the original Ford battery 95 years ago?

Going back to a "normal" brand battery. Like Interstate.
Same here. problem is if it is dead a charger reads it as no battery. I have had luck leaving it jumped to another battery to get enough charge in it that the charger would recognize it. Not this time.

I dont think cold cranking amps were mentioned back in the old days, but what was listed was the number of plates inside weather it be a 13, 15. or 17 plate construction. The batteries I bought for my under floor 1934 Fords in the 1960s were 15 plate hard rubber case. Regards, Kevin.

Could someone provide contact information for Mike Hill? I would like to purchase one of his regulators for a 3-brush generator.

OMG! I forgot that it had been months since I'd driven my car (out of commission for modifications) and left my 6v optima unattended. Plugged it into the 6v battery tender and within a few hours got the green light. Glad I didn't waste a battery.

I leave both Optima and conventional batteries unattended for six months at a time every winter. They always come right back with a little charging.

Battery will be ruined only if there is some electrical draw that totally drains the battery, and it sits that way long time. To be safe, disconnect the ground cable for long storage.

I use one of the NOCO Genius battery chargers. It knows if it’s a 6v battery and what kind and automatically charges it. I’ve run my Optima down before and this will charge it back up overnight. I keep it on sometimes as a trickle charger too. I first disconnect my battery to the truck via a kill switch.
