Does anyone have patterns or the layout of the glass channel dimensions including where the glass mounts in the channel and also showing the details of the lift tracks, that is...how long they are and where they mount to the glass channel?
or alternatively (and even WAY easier), is anyone selling these channels? Thanks, Heard

I will pull some out today and see if I can help. They are a little more complicated than just providing a few dimensions to be able to build some, if that is your intention, but I will do what I can.

Thanks! I'll take any help I can get. And yes, I'm well aware of what is needed to build one. I've done this before, and while not ideal...it appears I have no choice unless I can find someone that is willing to sell one.

Here are a couple pictures of a L/H channel along with couple of a R/H channel.
May help someone ID a channel they have; but don't know the application. Sold out of all the left & right channels we had. Last edited by rich b; 07-25-2024 at 09:34 PM. Reason: added pictures |

Well, my truck only had one door fitted with glass. It turns out it is the wrong glass (too small). I don't know what vehicle this glass and channel came out of, however, the lift channel seems to work fine in my pickup door. This lift channel has an 8" section and a 9" section. So I'll replace the glass and all is good for the driver's door.
I also have a leftover lift/glass channel that I fabbed up from some other parts a number of years ago when I was working on my '36 coupe. This one ALMOST works but it has (2) 8" sections. I need that extra inch. So....if anyone has a lift channel with a 9" (or more) section, I would sure like to buy it. I might also mention that I'm not interested in buying any of those lift channels that are gold color. I think these things came out of Mexico. Thankfully, I don't even see this stuff for sale any longer. My experience with that stuff is that it is junk. Thanks, Heard

Sorry for the delay. Here’s what I’ve got. Let me know which info you’re looking for. It will be difficult to accurately measure some of the features to a point where you can build some but I’ll help however I can.

Thanks a bunch for this! What I need is a piece of the lift channel that is at least 9" long. It can be longer of course.
Thanks, Heard

Heard - I'm not exactly sure what parts you are looking for so I've attached a couple of images to hopefully help clarify things. The glass run parts in which the glass slides are sold as a kit and are available. If you are missing the glass run retainers (one left and one right) for each door, you may be able to find these as used parts. The glass is held by the glass channel and these are also only available as used parts or NOS. Look over the attachments and let me know what parts you are looking for.
Also, many vendors sell the correct shape glass. I used Sanders Glass (www.sandersreproglass.com), a bit expensive but guaranteed to exactly fit. Dave

I do not need any of the fuzzy stuff or related stuff. I have all of this.
What I need is the entire passenger side lower glass channel shown in your picture to the far right. The part that the glass is mounted in with the tape. If I can't find that (specifically made for my pickup), I'll take ANY glass channel that has a 9" or longer piece of lift channel so that I can fab what I need. The lift channel is the part where the regulator arms slide, shown in your pic where the stop screw goes, pointed to generally as 'B'. It doesn't have to be the piece to the right with the stop screw. It can be the left side as long as it is at least 9" long. If I have this, I can drill out the welds and move it to the stuff I have. Thanks! Heard

Drake lists a replacement upper part of the channel (01A-7021470) which has the bump in the bottom of it for the regulator to index to. You will still need the lower guide angles which are spotwelded to make the assembly. The shape, size, and positioning is critical. You also need the regulator slide bracket, pin, and fiber washer. This is 1935-37 commercial specific. If you do not get all this stuff exactly right your window will not work exactly right. If you have the drivers side channel the passenger side is a mirror image.
The channel system was used in various arrangements 1934-40 Ford, and also many Chrysler products cars ?1935-1939? and any of the channels could provide donor parts for the lower guide angles (with slicing, dicing, and welding). Some guide channels had curved "wicks" on the ends, some as Model51 illustrated did not. This appears to be a variance between different suppliers and either or both could appear on a given vehicle indiscriminately. Not currently reproduced, what used to be available was through Specialized/Mac's/Eckler/Turn5 and was Argentina CRAP (identifiable by yellow zinc plating). There was a lot of NORS available though most of that has dried up. Good Luck |
