To modify any other way is destroying the OEM ACL ASSEMBLY ($$$) (and again IMO).

The 1955 and 1956 ACL bases are different as to allow for the 1956 4000 choke housing clearance. If this kit is used on a 1956 ACL BASE, the ACL FILTER ELEMENT will become misshapen-ed.

The larger the filter element, the less restriction on air flow.
