stock NOS fomoco valve springs on a 236 @.050 .355 lift cam
I am building a 4.125 by 3.312 stroker. It will have dual carbs with 43 main jets, and a delta 236 effective at .050 .355 lift cam. Something like a stock Merc cam. I found some NOS fomoco valve springs for $71 shipped. Should I use these or some ISKY g-185s.

If you can shim the NOS springs up to 50lb on the seat without coil binding, you should be ok.
You are on your own with the cam. |

You can probably get some LZ springs from Mac VanPelt. He used to carry them all the time, but last time we chatted he was having some issues with supply. I checked his last ones out - they were good springs at a fair price.

I agree with John - 43s to small- use 45s and I use a 71 PV. And LZ springs are good.

I found some NOS stock springs from 1955 for $70 plus shipping.
There is so much room to coil bind That I could easily shim .060 to >080 and still have .080 to coil bind on a .355 cam. Should I buy them? |
