Default 53 mercury clutch bolt pattern

Hi all. I'm getting closer on my 41 pickup with the rebuilt 53 255. The truck is in my brothers shop out in Oregon so I'm taking two week trip out there to get the lions share of the install done. He called me last night and said the flywheel I had surfaced and balanced had a different bolt pattern for the 10" clutch. Something about each of the six bolts being evenly spaced around the wheel so the almost new 10"clutch off the 8ba won't bolt up as it has six bolts in groups of two. Did ford and mercury use two different clutches? Sorry no photos as I'm not there until Wednesday. Thanks,Tim

FWI for others, Ford used Borg Warner Long Type pattern clutches (3 groups of 2 bolts). Mercury cars in the 8BA era used the B&W Borg & Beck even spaced bolt pattern with 6 bolts. The Borg & Beck being 10" and the Long types were mostly 9.5" but police cars, station wagons, and light 1/2 ton pickups used the 10" Long type clutch that worked with the input spline size of the transmissions used.
