Drive shaft install
I just installed my stock closed driveshaft into the torque tube and rear diff coupler. When I turn the driveshaft, only the passenger side wheel turns. Turning the drivers rear wheel makes the other wheel turn in reverse and turns the driveshaft. Same for the other wheel. Can someone explain this? I know that ‘posi-traction’ makes both wheels turn the same direction when you turn a wheel, but if turning the driveshaft doesn’t turn both wheels, what makes the driver wheel turn?

Re: Drive shaft install
Thats how a differential works. If only one wheel is turning, it has less resistance than the other side. could be a slight brake drag, or even just more grease in the wheel bearing.
When its off the ground, one will spin forward, and one backward. When its on the ground power is transmitted to both wheels thru the spider gears, until one side looses traction, then it gets all the power and the wheel with traction is doing nothing |
