Default 52 Merc out for a drive

Hard to believe its been a month and a half or more since running the Merc after coming home from the car show in the rain. Naturally the Holley teapot had drained but a little chainsaw mix poured down the throat soon had it running. I wanted to get a few shots of the leaf scenery before the wind blows it all away. Sun would not co-operate and the drone would not fly but I got a few I phone shots.

Very nice. I often see '53s & '54s but for some reason rarely see a '52 Merc.

So true. Its rare to see a 52. Most of what I see are 53s. Some 54s and of course numerous 49-51s.

Hi Mark. Wish I had time to do some more Merc leaf tours but as long as the good weather holds I need to keep on putting in long days on the combine or swather. . Supposed to get up to 60 k wind gusts today so the leaves will be falling.

IMG_0340.jpg Hi Roosty , been following you on Youtube a few years and I just found you on the Ford Barn. I figured you would like to see my 52 Merc 3 on the tree with overdrive. Every thing on her is totally original excepting wear items of course!

What a nice 52 Merc! Good to see mine is not the only surviving 52.
Is that a Monterrey with the stainless trim rockers and the extra side strip? Mine is the Custom and does not have those. I like the two tone with black roof

Hi Ralph, No, mine is a 4dr Mercury Custom like yours. It does have alot of factory options like fender skirts, fog lights, window rain guards etc. Of course it has a visor like yours which was also an option. I've had to do a bit to keep her running and stopping right, but your videos inspired me to forge ahead, especially when I see you out there working in the cold. I brought mine to a local car show recently and oldtimers like myself were loving how original she was. Thats why I bought it in the first place and will never change that. John

John, your 52 must have had a much more sheltered life than mine. Lower body rust really destroyed much of this Merc. As well as the front fenders which is why I swapped them for some much nicer 53 fenders. That explains the 53 fender trim.
Both rear doors sagged badly and it showed as the side trim did not line up. As kids we knew not to try opening the right rear door as it was impossible. I did fix that and its the best working door on the car now.
Nearly every 52-53 Merc I look at has broken driver side glass and vent window but yours appear to be good. You found a real nice car.
