Top wadding
I am about to help with a top on a "huckster"
The top is set up like a woody wagon with the thin support slats running the length of the body We are going to put the black canvas down on top of the slats and the grained "vinyl" as the topping. My questions is, was the intermediate layer of cotton wadding used on the station wagon bodies? And, I don't think chicken wire was used as the slats provide enough support (??) Thanks |

Re: Top wadding
On the wagons originally just the black vinyl material was used, The white backing on the vinyl showed through the slats,

There was no vinyl yet in that time frame. The material was impregnated with pyroxylin and embossed with the grain before it was cured. Last edited by rotorwrench; 08-25-2023 at 02:53 PM. |
