In my experience it is not uncommon for the '32-'35 straight tooth cluster low gear to be galled and the slider gear to be usable after close inspection. I'd recommend replacing the cluster, they seem to be plentiful.

Lots of wear, but still usable, although I wouldn't (reuse it). That transmission seems to have had plenty of miles on it.

What would it cost to put a full set of the L-Z Gears in? I didn't see it as a set in the Van Pelt Catalog.

The reverse gear has slightly pointed gears on one side to help the slider enter the teeth. I too would replace it since they are rather common to obtain. Another point of heavy wear is the brass syncro rings which are part of the syncro hub. The hub has to be replaced to replace the rings.

In order to put the LZ gears in it, you'd be replacing the entire gear set - including the main shaft, synchro assembly, etc..

Also, the 32 shifter top will not work with the later gear sets (though some have cut/spliced and 'Frankensteined' a 32 top to work).

Most folks would put a 39 double-detent top on it. Since your case is for a 32 B motor, you'll not be able to just use a 39 transmission - you'd have to use the guts out of a 39, gears out of a LZ and a top from a 39.

Well, if your cluster gear is trashed, make a lamp out of it! This one is from a '34 3 speed.
