Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
Hi there,
Wondering if any one on the barn could share knowledge and experience on centerforce clutches ? I have emailed them a week ago but no response to date. Engine is 1933 stock 221 cid currently fitted with 6 finger pressure plate (BB7563) and 9" disc (supplied by van pelt 12 years ago). Disc input shaft is 1 3/8 10 spline. According to their website it is possible to use their products for this configuration but I really need 100% confidence before I order because I'm based in Europe. Additionally I need to confirm that it will fit with existing flywheel. Your suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated. Max

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
I have plenty of experience with their product line and have one of their first dual friction units on a Ford-powered road race car.
Let me send you an email address that's a little more specific. I sent you a PM. |

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
I've used Center Force clutch assemblies in two of my High Performance
Ford cars. They have proved to be TOP Quality, as far as I'm concerned. .

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
Hey Max,
I had a similar experience with Centerforce's Tech line. I called them after not getting a response and I got a tech right away and they were very helpful and knew their products. I have their clutch and pressure plate set up with a Weber flywheel and couldn't be happier. I did remove those sliding weights they put on their pressure plates because a friend, who had the same set up, had the clutch get stuck when the weights slid around the throw out bearing. I figured with such low horse power, I didn't really need them anyway. As far as a recommendation, I plan to use them on all my builds going forward. Great set up. |

I cannot speak to your application but I bought Centerforce's complete package including flywheel for my '49. Excellent product.

They can probably sell you a complete package that comes WITH a flywheel - so make sure you really check things out with them. I would send them a picture of your current flywheel - so they're dang sure what you're talking about. |

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
Thanks for your advice. After inspection my flywheel will need to be replaced.
A fellow barner has shared a contact there so hopefully I will get a definitve recommendation on centerforce references for flywheel-PP-disc-TOB. Will report progress...

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
Hi All,
Just to let the fordbarn community know that I contacted Centerforce and received confirmation on Centerforce product references that will work on a 1933 stock engine namely: PP ref CF365222 Disc ref 381870 TOB ref N1714 Flywheel ref 700340 Bad news as it seems the flywheel cannot be purchased anymore ;-( Centerforce advise to question third parties as they cannot supply it. Placed an order with jegs but unfortunately the flywheel is on backorder without a target date. If anyone here has a tip it would be most welcome. The flywheel is described as "mandatory" to operate with PP-Disc-TOB supplied by C/force but there may be compatible flywheels ? Thanks

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
You might consider talking to RAM clutches - they made me two custom billet steel flywheels.

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
Hi Bored&Stroked + Tim,
Thanks for your interest and support. I just received an update from Jegs. Very bad news... Centerforce will not deliver the recommended flywheel so I had to cancel the whole order. Back to square 1. If anyone has a suggestion or recommendation for a diaphragm clutch setup that will fit in a stock 1933 engine ? Cheers

I'd give RAM Clutches a call. I have not dealt with them, but Bored & Stroked has. He's quite a picky fellow (in a good way) about parts. If he like their products, then they must be good. Here is a link to their website: https://ramclutches.com/ Did a quick search and they have flathead flywheels in both steel and aluminum listed on their site: https://ramclutches.com/ram-true-bal...let-flywheels/ |

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
Thanks Tim for your support. I just left a message to RAM Tech Dept via email asking whether they have a solution for my engine. I have indeed seen that they offer steel flywheels but I also need the PP-Disc-TOB, preferably from a single source as I am based in Europe (shipping & duty fees really hurt).
If diaphragm is not an option, could anyone recommend a setup ? 1"3/8 10 spline, 9 or 10 inch disc, preferably not the 6-finger style... Centerforce really suck. I cannot understand why they sell PP-Disc-TOB and require a flywheel that they don't sell anymore ;-(

Re: Centerforce clutch advice & feedback
RAM will custom make a clutch to meet your requirements - making the pedal force easy on your leg, yet holding well under acceleration.
