Building a 41 ford coupe that has a 49 8ba flathead. I have seen lists for rebuilders in the past, would like to have a current list for eastern pa, 50 miles north of phila. I am ready to make some calls in the next few weeks to get this engine rebuild started. thanks

It's a little ways away but I had Dennis Frings/Frames in North Carolina over on the HAMB build me nice little 276 inch 8BA short block with all the good parts which he shipped to me in Nebraska. He was reasonably priced. I had my local machine shop install the heads, intake, and front end. It's been test ran and broken in and worked great. Now just waiting for me to get a chassis dome for my deuce roadster.

Not quite eastern Pa. but I would recommend these guys. If you could supply them with all the components you will get returned a run tested engine. Good people -- good service.

Schwalm's. They are known for Model A motors but they also rebuild V8's, you can google them. Been in business a long time.

How did the engine rebuild with ECAM work out? The engine in my '40 started making a knock, so a rebuild may be in my future.

Schwalms is located in Strasburg, PA. East of Lancaster, PA and Southwest of Philadelphia, PA. The business is presently owned and run by Ora Landis who took over the business around 2000 or so, after Mr Schwalm passed away. Ora rebuilt a '35 21 stud, poured babbitt mains engine for me around 2002. It's now in my Avatar '35 fordor sedan, and I've put ~ 36k miles on this engine since it was rebuilt. It's still a strong and solid runner that I drove across the country and back (7,200 miles) in 2013. He may not be the lowest cost rebuilder around, but he does do good work.

So far so good - motor in car and running - sounds good - not drivable yet , but starts and sounds good - working on finishing body work - Joe at ECAM was great to work with.
