Have you ever dropped the air cleaner wing nut on top of the engine. Well I did and it crawled away. Anyway, what is the thread size? The local parts store probably has one. Thanks In Advance!

I believe they are 8-24. Your local Ace hardware would have them also.

Most of the ones I've ran into were 1/4 - 20, maybe 1/4-28

Probably 1/4-20 on the bottom to screw into carburetor, and the wing nut end of that stud is likely 1/4-28. My guess, and I'm stickin' to it! Coop . |

I dug out the orignal air cleaner for my '51 today. The top nut is definitely 1/4-20. It is a stamped wing nut with traces of bronze paint that was used on the engine. It was greasy and dirty so I left it to soak overnight. I can post a picture of it if you need to see it.

Hi, is it a solid wing nut or a pressed steal one ?
