What size fuel line would have been used on a 54 Mercury 2546 engine??
For those running an electric fuel pump, what pressure should it run at?? Do you have installed a pressure gauge?? What types pumps/gauges?? Thanks!!

our '41 with a 302 & elect. pump and our '60 with a 292 & mech. pump both have 5/16" fuel lines. The elect pump was a universal 12V pump from local auto parts store.I set the elect. pump at about 3.5# and used a combo vac/ fuel pump gauge I bought at sears 50 yrs ago.
I know mine are not '54's but should give you an idea. |

I’ve got a 56 f100 with a Holley 94-2110 carb on a 292 engine. 12V facet # FEP304SV electric fuel pump that list output pressure at 1.5 - 2.5 lbs. With engine running I’m getting 1.5 psi on my 1 5/8” oil filled pressure gauge that’s inline of my 5/16” fuel line. The 94 carbs need very low fuel pressure to operate properly and not flood out particularly due to high heat during the summer months. Float setting is also a sensitive issue, mine is a hair below 1.5”

The carburetor in the mercury is the original Tpot 4 barrel carb that came on the engine. The manual says recommended fuel pressure is 4-5psi. Someone installed an electric pump on the car, but I think it is over powering the carb with pressure. I'm looking for an original mechanical pump

Yes - you can see them at the lower right parts of the pump - looking directly into them

Here are a couple more pics. The fist shows the fuel in/out at the top of the pump and one vacuum port at the bottom. The second shows the vacuum port on the other side. I sent you a PM on shipping

Most of the new pumps today are made in china and are terrible. Original pumps rebuilt are the best way to go. 54 pumps are rare as hen's teeth.
