35 Phaeton in Europe
Does anyone know if the Phaeton models were exported to or manufactured in Europe in any number or were they more of an American taste?
Thank you! Last edited by G917t; 05-20-2023 at 09:40 AM. |

Re: 35 Phaeton in Europe
At least the body was anufactured in either the U.S. or Canada and exported from there. Most likely from the U.S. if originally sold in Europe.

Re: 35 Phaeton in Europe
63 were shipped from Canada to Dagenham, England. Of these 1 was sent to Barcelona in Spain. 15 were shipped to Alexandria in Egypt. The remaining 47 were here in England, there is one known survivor, that was in one family, from 1936 to i think the late 1980,s. It is currently being restored.

Re: 35 Phaeton in Europe
I believe the one that went to Barcelona is the one in the Canary Islands and was being restored also.

Re: 35 Phaeton in Europe
I have copies of some of the pages from a Canadian records book, that covers overseas shipments. They are copies of the copies that Sam Roberts obtained when he was researching the history of the Ford Model Y. As i had loaned him some Ford literature from my collection, he gave me the copies as a thankyou. The pages i have cover 1932 to 1937.

Re: 35 Phaeton in Europe
I have a 35 Phaeton in Zimbabwe that was built in Canada, and a friend has a 35 coupe.
I would be very interested to Know and see how many cars from 1932 to 1939 were exported to Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, South Africa and any other african countries. Many thanks Regards Viv, |

Re: 35 Phaeton in Europe
I own the English phaeton in question. It is now fully restored to as near original as is possible. Very little information exists as to what the original specification was. The original manufacturer plate states it was manufactured in Dagenham England, made in Canada. No doubt it also contains English sourced parts. The interior trim was a different colour to US/ Canadian phaetons for starters. I would be grateful for any other original information.
