The 500 cfm four barrel is probably larger than your engine will like.

So I have installed the Edelbrock 1404 on my 239 and get black fouled plugs.
Changing timing will improve response sitting in the driveway but its a pig on the road and fouls the plugs black. I have the stock distributor and just purchased a good fuel pump and regulator. They just arrived but I haven't installed yet. Edelbrock says 5.5 on pressure and I already know voltage is an issue in keeping it consistent but if this doesnt work what would you recommend for a distributor?
