Fresh air duct flapper re[placement
Hello All,
I am finally putting the dash back in and it is time to rebuild the fresh air ventilators. How do i get the flapper part out of the housing without separating it into pieces (I don't really want to do this). How you all done this? Mike

If it is like the 56 the rod that controls the flap just pulls out. Then the flap can be removed from the housing

Re: Fresh air duct flapper re[placement
check out my blog post on this with pictures (just too much for this forum lol)... in short, I had to drill out the spot welds and just used small hardware to sandwich it all back together. As I recall, that all came in a kit I ordered from Dennis Carpenter.

Re: Fresh air duct flapper re[placement
Take the duct out of the fender apron and turn it upside down on a pair of lumber big enough to allow the crank/shaft to come out of the bottom.
Take a hammer and hammer the bottom of the shaft till it loosens, then pull the shaft out the rest of the way. Reach in and pull out the damper laying inside the duct. You'll need to drill out the welds that hold the two metal damper sides together in order to replace the rubber. Most of the repro parts suppliers sell the rubber replacements. Be careful putting the shaft back in t6hat you dont have the crank facing in the opposite direction it was originally. |
