Default Front brake operating pin question

Rebuilding front end and front brakes on 30 coupe. When I took the operating pin out of the brakes there was a harden gasket on one end of the operating pin. When I was cleaning every up, the gasket broke down and felt like a felt washer. If there suppose to be a felt washer or something on the front end of the operating pin? Anyone have literature or picture if so?

It is a seal for the backing plate that stops dirt and grime from getting into the brake or onto the rod. Check the exploded views in catalogs. Its actually called a king pin seal. A3121 Is the part number I think. Where the brake pin goes up and down to operate the brakes. the brake
