Re: Trying to fix the One Way Trip, 34 Ford
check your ignition resistor. I know it sounds strange but I had one that would not completely fail. Changed it and quite a few issues disappeared

Re: Trying to fix the One Way Trip, 34 Ford
When I changed my '34 roadster to 12 volts, negative ground several decades ago I bypassed the resistor and used a coil that I bought from NAPA which had a built-in resistor. This has been working fine for many years.

Re: Trying to fix the One Way Trip, 34 Ford
It solves flooding issues by allowing a lot of air through the carb. It mixes with the gasoline laying in the manifold, clinging to manifold runners, spark plugs, piston tops and cylinder side walls. Old trick for the auto choke carbs as it also opens the choke plate. No pumping as that just activates the accelerator pump adding more fuel to the flooding.

Re: Trying to fix the One Way Trip, 34 Ford
Opening the throttle is a work around for a flooded engine, not a solution. Recommend adjusting the carburetor to match the gasoline we have today. Your rings and oil will thank you.
