Aerostar spring isolaters.
I know this is probably best left for the H.A.M.B but I searched and couldn't find direct part numbers.
Who has used aerostar springs with isolators and if so, what parts did you use and where did you get them? I've ordered some Moog CC850's and some pancake bump stops. |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
This goes back over 10 years, and that’s a while to remember. When I put the Aerostar springs in my bird I thought I might need isolators. Seems to me I found a Mustang site that sold them (in the nominal 4” size) in various thicknesses for tuning ride height with lowered springs. The relationships of the spring/arm length/spindle would be a little different, but probably not a lot. Might give some informational to get you closer.
If you know what thickness you want, K’s info should get it done. Edit. I just saw your picture of a 56 on another post. Great looking ride. |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
Well, they have different style(s) for use as an isolator, insulator and/or spacer, you just need to figure which way you wanna go.
I think this is what you are after to just insulate the lower coil from the arm to prevent any noises. They have upper isolators also. - Ramped Coil Spring Isolator Set - Coil-overs is another method that will ease trim height selection and stiffness -

I'm interested mainly in the top isolator... I guess my main concern is probably that it will be too low and I will want pad it a bit. My factory isolators are not in great shape so I'll need some replacement. |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
Yes Mike.
I love my 56. It great looking. The front could be a bit lower and I'm looking for the progressive spring to improve handling a little. |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
It's got a 312 and medium case fordo from a t bird. The body is completely rust free (now). I've rebuilt the front end and everything but the motor.
I'm looking to customize it a little with suspension and classic wheels. Just a cool cruiser. |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
My car was way too low with the CC850 springs, looked nice but with the 215/75-15 tires they scraped too much. So I took a coil off the OG ones and put them back in. The disc conversion also shoots out the wheels a bit. I would consider putting the CC850s back in, and would need to get something off the Energy Suspension site.

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
this blog post may help you as well - I too installed the CC850's and ended up raising the height with 1" spacers.

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
I used Aerostar coils in my 59’ Rancho, no isolators. Front end sits just right and rides great

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
No problem - I did like the "lowered look" but I kept getting some tire rub up front on extreme lock-to-lock turns. It wasn't a big deal but I am pretty happy with how she handles and rides.

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
So I finally got a chance to put it all together.
Bare in mind that I like a neutral stance. Not ready looking for really low. Moog CC850 springs + Mr Gasket 1285 spring isolators. I stayed with the stock lower bump stop as there seems to be plenty of travel. Drives much better with the progressive spring. I think the isolators quiet things down alot. |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
I may put the aerostars back in my car with the 1" spacers recommended here. Another groovy spring project.

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
yeah it may settle out further but now I need to sort out the rear. My rear leafs have flattened out, I have no lowering blocks in the rear.
I been thinking about getting the springs re-arched and fitting lowering blocks to suit my tastes or fitting some air assisted shocks like gabriel highjackers and pumping them up to my tastes. Any thoughts on those options? |

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.
I’ve got a friend with air shocks, but they’re only used to level a load in a Nomad wagon. I’ve never been big on them for regular use. (In his defense, they were on and new when he bought it).
Perfect solution would be someone who knew how to re arch the springs to where you want them, or a set made to do that. I’ve used blocks, but they’re not the perfect solution. Looks pretty good the way it sits to me, but what’s important is how it looks to you. |
