I recently installed a rebuilt Marvel carburetor and I love its performance, but I notice it is leaking a small amount of fuel from the air vent hole on the side of the carburetor up high. Weaping might be a better description as the amount is very small. Anyone know if this is normal? Or what might be the cause? I have opened it up and the float level looks OK, and the float valve is not leaking.

I'm not a Marvel expert, but I would suspect that the float level is still a tad too high. I have a Marvel and I love mine too! Others here on The Barn with more experience with Marvel carbs might have better advice. You might also check with these folks to see what they say about your issue...

It sounds as float level is wrong. There an inexpensive float gauge to check
it |

Ordsgt,
I would be interested in more rebuilding and adjustment information on the Marvel carb too. Where can one find the float gauge you speak of? |

The float valves may not seal well and allow fuel to over fill the bowl. Some run engine to evacuate a little fuel out of the bowl on shut down to lower the level somewhat.
The float is set parallel to the top flange using hard washers under the float valve. Also excess fuel can weep from the GAV outer brass threads if a washer is missing or if the needle tip washer is worn or missing. |
