Roadworthy Rescues
Just caught season 1 episode 7 of Roadworthy Rescues. It's about a 1928 Model A Cabriolet that has been sitting outside in a back lot in Detroit for 60 years. They got the car up, running and drivable in less than a week. Interesting, entertaining, informative and shake your head funny.
Take a look if you can get it, it's worth it. |

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
I haven't seen the episode, probably because I saw the trailer for it and it appeared to be an obvious setup. Have you ever seen a car that actually sat outside in a northern city for 60 years?

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
I watched the episode. Car was not sitting outside for 60 years, it was last registered on the road ~60 years ago. And they couldn't say where or what had happened to it since 1958, the date on an oil change sticker. Never read too much into any of these shows.
2x what Boxcar Tom said...Interesting, entertaining, informative and shake your head funny. |

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
Typical reality show......lots of dramatic antics, little by way of educational information.....somewhat of a knock-off of other Motor Trend TV shows.....

Derek is pretty knowledgeable and entertaining. Wife is a better welder than he is. He has a series of You Tube videos called Vise Grips garage, better than soap operas.

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
Entertaining, but I get a little tired of his "funny" names for typical car parts. At least he puts in fresh oil before starting!

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
I like the vice grip garage shows. He gave up on a old white mid 80s Ford truck on one show, unusual for him. Yes its entertainment for sure but he gets some old cars and trucks running that sure dont look road worthy. He must pick ones that the engine at least is spinning. Old froze up engines would not make a good show. About like my ragged ol truck??
Regards, Chris

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
Here is some behind the scenes from that episode- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M5h_wKmnds
The car was under a metal cover. The cover was removed before shooting so you could see the car. Previous owner apparently tried to get it running but gave up. Nothing was staged. Nothing was faked. No drama, what you see is what really happened. |

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
I'll have to give it a look - I normally lose interest in the reality shows - same formula - intro, crisis, solution, end - repeat next week.

Re: Roadworthy Rescues
His sidekick for this episode , Paul Shinn, has a very good youtube channel as well. I'm not into Model As but I really like his channel. I highly recommend it!
