Looking good. BTW, red wheels go faster.

That’s a good looking coupe! Enjoy it.

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Yesterday the coupe passed both title and safety inspection without any issues.
Plates and title will arrive during next week and then I can start driving. |

Craig's List has a feature where you can list it in multiple areas to broaden your market. I gave up on Craig's List and started searching the MAFCA chapter newsletters and web sites around me for a car. Found this one 200 miles away. I vote for the red wheels. Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Plates arrived yesterday, drove it to work today.
All went well but I must admit that I'm not a fan of the Model A transmission. Extremely short 1st gear and no synchros will take some getting used to. |

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Shift slowly. Double clutch when down shifting. After a while it will become second nature.

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Quite often you can start out in second gear, the car just has to be rolling.
You will get use to the transmission. After over 60 years, I still grind a gear or two. Enjoy you new car. They are really great. |

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Mikko ya done well
Nice Coupe I like it! You'll have a lot of fun. The shifting will come just takes a little practice. Don't get in a hurry you'll find the sweet spot of when to shift. I double clutch and don't even think about it. Nice car and I think you'll have more fun with this than the '53! |

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Very nice Model A. My very first car in1964 was a one owner Model A standard Coupe. You will have lots of enjoyment with it!

They cheated on mine and swapped in a 1939 trans that has syncros in 2 & 3. There are kits to do it. http://clingsaftermarket.com/addtocart.asp?prod=3000 |

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Thanks for the replies, I'm very happy with the car.
I do have a 1936 V8 trans that I've been thinking about swapping in with a kit from Cling's but I would like to figure out the stock trans first, mostly for personal satisfaction. |

Re: Bought a 1930 Coupe
Like many have said, with time shifting a Model A becomes second nature and part of the Model A experience. It’s very satisfying to finally successfully downshift to second gear at speed; blipping the throttle just right. Just drive it and you’ll get it! And by the way, that’s a very nice looking Model A. Do you know any other owners?
