1938 Wiring Question(s)
I just purchased a 1938 convertible sedan. The only wiring in the car is the starting circuit, as I can start and drive the car. All other wiring is removed.
Any advice on how to proceed? The car is going to be a nice driver, so absolute authenticity is not a must, but I will be retaining 6volt positive ground. Thanks! |

Hi Everyone. 38convsedan, welcome to the forums, you should get some great help from the members.
You can get a start by checking VanPelt Sales' very helpful resources. It's not everything you will want, but it's something and I hope it helps. That company is very supportive of the hobby/industry. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...electrical.htm Excuse me as I add some 9 year old advice from my dad, henryat1140, on the importance of grounding your 6V system. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showp...9&postcount=11

Re: 1938 Wiring Question(s)
I don't know if Sacramento ford still makes harnesses but they have been good to me. Others will suggest.
The link to vanpelts is very helpful. Pretty much just keep asking here. You'll get some great info all along the way. If you are keeping the original look, that is great. Good luck!! |

Re: 1938 Wiring Question(s)
I would suggest using the stock wiring harnesses for your car. Sacramento Vintage Ford does make great wiring harnesses and they are very reasonable for price.
The stock style harness will make it easy for the person who is new to old Ford V-8s and they come with diagrams. I would suggest you put in a new firewall insulator if you don't have one or the original needs replacement. Parts of the harness pass through the insulator to the engine compartment. |

We recently bought EVERY wire harness in the car for our '37 Coupe from Michael Driskell at "3rd Gen Automotive". All harnesses went in quite easily and work well. I don't know who manufactures Michael's harnesses, but they are 'TOP SHELF' quality. Michael loves for you to call and ask to speak with him personally. Re: 1938 Wiring Question(s)
Well Will D. you are a North American. Just like in south America. Americans. To create a outline of what is right and true. Expand. I might agree.
The French Indian war made you Canadian. It's all very complicated I guess. We are all human and connected no matter the distinctions. Think you don't mind BC. |

BC is Great, as far as the climate, some people and scenery. All else is up for debate. Now you got me curious... let's see if we can agree or if we need to agree to disagree. I'm open to anything, let's here it, but preferable not here for reasons aforementioned.

Re: 1938 Wiring Question(s)
Ya I can post in a public forum what I think. I'm not afraid or care and have to move to emails. Guess that makes me American and not some Canadian. Just kidding I love my north neighbors. PM me if you like but you haven't yet soo....
Also love Sacramento wiring. For fart sake this is a ford site. Good family operation. Third Gen is solid operation too. As an artist I mix paint. I make colors. Till they mix and are put on canvas they don't' matter. But I know I enjoy all the of them. As I mix them I know they all mix. In this world some play checkers and some are playing chess. It's a big board. Last edited by Tinker; 05-31-2022 at 01:26 AM. |

Re: 1938 Wiring Question(s)
Henry said you can have a model T any color as long as it is black. Didn't mean to strike a cord.
Ever wonder why there a lot of Muslims in dearborn. You have no idea. Color on this forum should have no matter. Ya everything is grey. Mix it all in a ford melting pot. Last edited by Tinker; 05-31-2022 at 02:39 AM. |
