Default Ammeter

Vehicle: 1930 4-door, 2-window, Tudor

Question: Current ammeter is VERY poor quality and tends to pop apart. Seek a good and solid Ammeter that can fit the instrument panel in this vehicle. What is recommended and from what source?

Nurex sells a high quality ammeter. I put one in a while back and am very pleased with it.

You can't beat an original unit but a person has to look around to find one and also recognize the difference between the original and the reproduction.

This is the best link I've found to really see how the originals were made.
https://www.fordgarage.com/pages/ammetertool.htm

Notice the large C-shaped magnet and the special terminal nuts. This is what they looked like. With this type centering magnet, the needle was much more sensitive. All the reropductions just have a tiny little magnet on the needle shaft.

I use some parts from the reproductions to freshen up an old one if the face plate or lens is bad, I throw the rest away. The orignials were blacked out inside so as not to see any shiny brass in there. The repros aren't painted like that. The original bakelite terminal nuts & insulators won't melt like the modern plastic ones do.
