I've read about them and believed it was for some experimental aircraft use. Over the years, I've picked up aluminum 59AB water pumps that had some type of aviation stamp or casting mark on them. I've since sold them, wish I didn't.

I believe someone on the HAMB posted a pict of an old Grancor add selling a few of these engines.
