1961 Ranchero heater core replacement
Does anyone know if the heater box can be spit and a new core installed without removing the entire heater box blower motor and all?
I have a v8 with "hang on air" and I didn't want to remove the whole setup just to replace the heater core. Any info is appreciated Thanks ... H. Smith |

If you post photo(s), you might get more responses. Many of us have replaced heater cores, but we're not necessarily familiar with your particular application.

It has been a lot of years since I changed one, but I think you have to remove the complete heater box. I don't think you can get the hoses off if you don't

Re: 1961 Ranchero heater core replacement
My 1960 Falcon FSM says to remove the heater assembly and lay it on the floor, then remove the cables and hoses and take it out of the car, then open the case to get to the heater core.
1961 should be the same as 1960. |

X2 on the hoses. Make sure you get high quality replacement hoses. Also have the new heater core pressure tested by a radiator shop. Before installation. I have had a new core leak before.
