I'll echo the advice to keep it looking the way it does and get it driving. My old 36 surprisingly way gets more attention at casual shows than megabuck cars exactly because it's pretty much untouched since leaving the farm. And I find it way more fun to drive this way. Don't be too quick to change the brakes, good condition mechanicals work pretty darn good themselves.
