I am looking at replacing water pumps in my 1936 Sedan with 21 stud engine and in head water pumps.
Does anyone have a step by step guide, or experience they can share? I have looked through my literature, (not an extensive collection), and this procedure is not outlined. I also searched this forum and was not able to locate this information. Looking at the vehicle the things I notice:
So, what all needs to be removed to get sufficient space to remove bolts? Or, is there a trick or special tool I am unaware of? Any tips or tricks? I hate the ah-ha moments that occur after the fact, (and after bloody knuckles). Hoping to gain valuable knowledge from this group. I've done the later type flathead water pump, (lowers that are also motor mount), and thought, this should be easy, no jacking up engine and no rusted bolt in the middle of the water pump neck. Was I kidding myself? Thanks for any help and for sharing of knowledge and experience. |

Last time I did this was on my '33. Drain the cooling system to just below the pump flange in the head.Remove the top hoses. If you have the spark plug steel tubular looms -just disconnect at the intake and carefully move out of the way if necessary.Oh yes pull the plug wires off each s-plug.I used open end wrench to undo and reinstall the bolt on the intake side and a box on the other 2 on each pump. Its the one closest to the intake that is a pain. I think I had to use an old wrench and bend it.
