1935 Ford Roadster Door Assembly
So I went and looked at a 1935 Roadster today that is for sale locally. Car was frame off restored in 1980's. I notice the the lower hinge on the drivers door was a little loose and door had sagged just slightly. When I looked at the lower door edge, it seemed that there was some wood showing. So here is my question, is there a wood frame on the 1935 Roadster door assembly similar to the 1934 or is it an all steel assembly. I took a picture on the lower door edge but it just didn't come out clear enough. Thanks Nate Anello.

Nate,
The 35 and 36 roadster doors are wood framed as well as the door jams. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: 1935 Ford Roadster Door Assembly
Hi Everyone, Just to add to the information, the Phaeton shares the same door design with the Roadster, it includes a lot of wood. For the unfamiliar, neither has windows, window winders, or door locks.

Re: 1935 Ford Roadster Door Assembly
Only the early '35 phaeton/roadster front doors have the inside door handle at the front of the door. Later '35 doors have the same door handle location in the center as the '36 doors.

Re: 1935 Ford Roadster Door Assembly
You're welcome. I only know such things as the result of having had both very early and very late '35 open cars. Three other changes that many think of as strictly '36, but which were adopted as running changes late in the '35 model year are the windshield posts, wind wings, and big stamped-in Xs on the sides of the firewall. Lo and behold, all of the revised windshield-related items carry 48-prefix part numbers, not 68-prefix part numbers.

Re: 1935 Ford Roadster Door Assembly
Thanks Sawall for the offer to make the wood frame. I haven't decided if I'll move forward with the purchase of the roadster, but if I do, I'll get back with you. Thanks Nate Anello
