Default Do early/late distributors have different lengths?

I had to install a new cam and cam gear in my 1937 21 stud, the later gear type that screws on instead of the earlier type that pressed on. Now the slot in the cam doesn’t reach the distributor. Do I need to buy a later distributor?

You need to buy the small drive spacer that is made for this very purpose. C&G Ford parts and other vendors have them. Regards, Kevin.

Ford made an adapter button to take care of that problem. There easy to get from most suppliers.

No. You can buy an adapter “button “ that will take up the difference. You obviously used the later 59Ab cam. You could have used a “long nose” 37 -41 type cam that uses bolt on gear but would not have needed an adapter

Ah, that explains it. I thought my new cam was for 37-41, but it must not be.
