To Cupar In The Merc
Finally got a few video clips edited from last weekend's car show. It was a 46 mile round trip and that is the longest the Merc has been on since 1969. The last time it was in Cupar. It ran great and normal temp. Loved the pavement.

Ralph….I haven’t had a chance to watch the video…..I saw the name “Dysart” on the side of that building in the picture. There is a family in Hamden,ME. with that name. They’ve had a truck stop and oil/ tanker delivery business for years. Looking forward to see your latest outing in the Merc. Take care,……. Mark

I hauled a few loads of grain into that elevator back in the days it was still in service as a Sask. Wheat Pool building. My guess, Dysart was named by some Scots immigrants much like the next towns down the road, Cupar and Markinch. The flathead Merc ran great. No problems with heat as temps were in the sixties. Gas mileage was roughly 15 mpg but there was quite a headwind part of the way.

Ralph… thanks for the ride and the Car Show!…. Great looking bunch of vehicles up that way….. I’m always amazed at the great openness of your location….it’s high on my list of a “drive thru “ when time allows…

The Skyliner was really nice. I thought I had video of it opening and closing the top but somehow missed out on that and only got a few still pictures.

Re: To Cupar In The Merc
No, this was just another extreme in our range of weather this year. We are closer to 80 today and predicted to be hotter next week. My nephew was driving the Chevy II that follwed me to the show and on the day he was born in 88 the temp was so hot I was doing next to nothing at all. Just too hot. 88 was a year of extreme heat and drought for us.

Ralph: That Tiger tail in your windshield reminds me of the Gulf extra kick horseshoes they used to give out. I cut them in half and stuck one to each vent window of my ‘50 Ford back in the day.

Re: To Cupar In The Merc
No I don't remember Gulf giving those out. I remember, and still have, some of their "coins of the world" collection. I think there was one for minerals too. Prior to that when the station sold BA fuel they gave out some type of scratch and win cards with a different vintage car on each card. I saved a few of those too. Guess I need to put a few of them in the glove compartment of the Merc to add to the sixties ambience. :-)
