I have used something similar on a 5.0. After thing about it, it was a 351w.

Looks pretty neat! A little pricy but I’ll bet other Distributor Mfgr’s will pick up the idea & it’ll get more competitive. Definitely like the idea!

I spoke with their tech support. They're not going to build a flathead unit so I asked about the small block chevy unit. I spoke to Charlieny and he said he could modify it. The distributor body is 2 pieces which Charlie said is not a problem. Charlie said the electronics would need to come out before I send it to him. Tech said yes it could be taken apart very carefully paying special attention to the 15 thou gap. I'd really like to pull the trigger on this distributor. It would be great to know exactly where my timing is and also have boost/timing control. One thing that threw me was they set the distributor at 10 degrees BTDC on the install video and said that step was very important. I'd have to call tech to see why that is because I don't know off hand. I'd also have to make my pulley for that.

I just finished reading the installation instructions. The reason they say 10BTC to install the unit is the as-shipped program is set to 10 degrees fixed. That will let you start the engine, then after that you set your own timing map the way you want it. It should work great on a car like yours.

I personally do not like the looks of HEI ignitions at all. Maybe these folks don't either, as they are also offering a small cap model for only $70 more.
