What should be the voltage at the crab distributer, on a 12 volts system, with car running?

A lot depends on the coil you are going to use. A late 12-volt 3.0 ohm coil will work without a ballast resistor. A 1.5 ohm coil will need a 1.3 to 1.5 ohm ballast resister to function properly. An original coil can be rebuilt to work with 12-volts. Skip does them all the time.
When the car is running with the points opening and closing all the time, the voltage being indicated by a volt meter will not mean much. |
