How would you price this F1?
I have a 52 F1 that I purchased about 7 months ago. It has an 8BA 239 with 3 on the tree manual transmission. The truck has an old restoration (guessing 10 years ago or so?) - Mechanically, the truck is 100% sound. No leaks; runs cool; starts on a dime and runs great down the road. What I've done to it:
1. Complete brake rebuild - everything repaired and set properly 2. New kingpins in the front 3. New Fan housing - replaced 4. New Champion radiator with chrome pipes and tstat housing 5. Runs 185 degree tstats 6. New wiper assembly 7. rewired completely for proper 12volt operation - all gauges (including am-meter) works 8. added after market tac to monitor RPMs 9. added two temp gauges to monitor temps - note both of these were done because I run this as a daily driver 10. Converted all lights/lamps to LED 11. Custom upholstered seat - after stripping down original and repairing all springs 12. oil changed every 2500 miles or so 13 transmission flushed and refilled 14. added proper 52 F1 badging to hood (front clip came with 51 setup) 15. added vintage metal trunk to bed for tool box and spare tire 16. Bluetooth receiver with under the seat marine amp for streaming audio with no visible stereo system - speakers in doors and behind seats - but saved the original door panels 17. replaced Oil bath filter with small edmunds air filter 18. Tuned up with new plugs 19. All lube points lubed and checked 20. Holley 94 carb - completely rebuilt. 21. New fuel tank (replaced with a restored one) 22. Located and added original behind the seat tool tray (not shown in video) This truck runs flawlessly - with no problems and everything works as it is supposed to. In 7 months, I've ran about 5,000 miles - doing as much as 350miles one way. I runs easily down the highway at 60mph and doesn't shake or rattle as it goes. I'm thinking of selling him to get a different truck with a newer motor and different drive train set up. I know I could convert this one, but since it runs so nice with the original configuration, it seems a shame to convert it. It looks great from 20 ft, but if you get close, you'll see the paint dings - not that it's a big deal, but it did take 3rd this weekend in the antique class at it's first car show - 76 vehicles entered and over a dozen in the antique class. So, what are your thoughts? It's not a show truck, but it is a "GO" truck and is a head turner. Here's a video I posted on Youtube.com https://youtu.be/_myGL5iAWiw |

Re: How would you price this F1?
All body repairs done with sheet metal, or bondo? Rust on the underside?
If it's as nice underneath as it appears in the video, I'd be looking for $20K, maybe more, depends on location to a large degree. Welcome to the Barn!

I like having the manual transmission - so what I'd like to find is a similar truck 51 or 52 with a 302 and OD manual transmission - already upgraded. As long as it's mechanically sound, I can refinish the interior as well as wiring it. Not sure if I'll find what I'm looking for - but really wanted to start with trying to determine the price to sell this one. I'm in South Carolina - this has been a 'southern' truck it's entire life - built in Virginia and has been down south since - the best I can tell. Thanks for the welcome and for your thoughts |

I'm with Ross on the 20 G. And as we all know that's a bargain , but that's how it goes. I would say that's a truck that a lot of people are looking for. Bugs are worked out and try to build it for that. Ain't gonna happen. It is a thing of beauty.

Yeh, but it is Property tax time [Oregon] and Holidays coming. No Swap/ cruizes, I'm noticing weak sales here and at HAMB. I'd wait for Spring. I have a total of $10K in Property tax each yr. [ no sales tax State]. Newc

On the other hand; you know this truck.
Could be better off swapping in the 302 and selling the flatty instead of building up another truck from scratch or buying someone else's unknowns. |

Re: How would you price this F1?
If someone is not concerned with an authentic looking restoration then I’d say between $18,000-$23,000 thousand depending on where you are. You’ve put a lot of popular upgrades that a lot seem to favor. So that should help you plus all the sorting out you’ve done with the engine . 😉

Re: How would you price this F1?
Not to state the obvious. It's only worth what someone will pay. Put it up for 30gs and if someone buy it. Great. But if you are looking for more then 20k on a 20 ft car. You might have to wait. To me putting a 302 in it lowers the value. But I'm not saying everyone would. Just another opinion on another thread about value. See my first 2 sentences.

Re: How would you price this F1?
Hello, and welcome to the 'Barn...
Just a little piece of advice, loose the big farm style rear bumper. It would have more appeal to the average buyer with No rear bumper at all. The best would be to find a rear bumper that matches the front bumper. Good luck, on which ever way you decide to go with it. .

Re: How would you price this F1?
Tinker, I agree - adding a 302 would lower the value (or at least I'd never get the money back out of it) which is why I'd rather sell it as it is and let someone else enjoy it - thanks for your input.
Lanny: Yeah, I've thought about that as well. The bumper was there when I bought it. Changing it is definitely an option - I always keep my eye open for one in case it comes available. Thanks |

Re: How would you price this F1?
Just watched the video. Neat truck.
I would start @ $25K or higher and let someone work you down from there. The market is really weird right now. Trucks are still selling, but your truck has some additions that make it really truck-like. For example, metal plate rear bumper and towing mirrors. Most buyers of vintage trucks will never use it as a truck. In my opinion, I would swap out the wheels for steelies. Those mags take away from the vibe. Swap them out and then sell the wheels. Today's vintage truck buyers want something that looks like a vintage truck and not a street rod. Last edited by Tim Ayers; 11-03-2020 at 09:53 AM. |

Re: How would you price this F1?
Welcome to the Barn... I sold a similar truck about 2 years ago. Got 20K. Also sold a 30 A last year, also with great results.
I used WeBeAutos.com who handled all the advertising, qualifying of buyer, collected payment and wired me my funds. All for 5%. Mike Runnels is the owners name and well worth checking into. Chap |

Re: How would you price this F1?
Not into the wheels on that one but the rest of it is really nice.
Paid 21K for my '48 about 5 years ago and it's not quite that clean. Welcome to the forum. |
