after-market hubcap difference Q
With the 30/31 hubcap reproductions, what is the difference between the 'show quality' and straight reproductions? Material thickness or amount of sheen/shine (both?)? I've looked, but don't see anything in the specs.

Re: after-market hubcap difference Q
It is basically the shape, logo, and how they are made.

I appreciate the reply. For now the 'reproduction' model will work. Likely to be upgraded at the end of the restoration process.

Re: after-market hubcap difference Q
The reproduction hub caps have a ring around the outer circumference . The hubcaps with inner structure usually cant be straightened if bent .

Re: after-market hubcap difference Q
Their are currently 5 different 1030-31 hub caps being made, some with the ring and some without, some one piece, some two piece. Some chrome, some stainless. Basically the really nice A&L made in the USA ones are two piece as original, with correct tab location and mount and look perfect. All the others are no as good nd some Are cheap one piece stampings.

Re: after-market hubcap difference Q
Helpful information, as always. A&L flew under my radar screen (no website to 'bookmark') Thanks

Re: after-market hubcap difference Q
inner structure doesn't prevent the hub cap from getting bent . A bent hub cap is usually a candidate for the trash can . A one piece hub cap can often be straightened . My stainless steel one piece hub caps look real good to me . I can see no advantage in a hub cap with an inner structure that prevents straightening an otherwise bent hubcap .The model A hub caps are thin and often can be straightened by hand if not badly bent and wrinkled . I avoid the less expensive chromed steel hub caps .
