Original seamed fuel line - Bundy Tube
Hello all, just came across a bit of interesting history. I was looking through "The Swap Meet" and saw a listing for original seamed fuel line. Being from the Motor City, I knew about "Bundy Tube" an early form of steel tubing that was manufactured by rolling thin steel sheet to form a double walled tube which was then soldered to seal the lapped seam... hence the "seamed tube". I did a search on Bundy Tube and came up with the history of the Bundy Corporation, still here in Detroit. Started by Harry Bundy in 1922. His first big contract was for Ford for the Model T (fuel line, I would guess)
Very interesting industrial/automotive history here... https://www.company-histories.com/Bu...y-History.html Regards, Joe B |

Time went by,and down the line the heirs to the name found themselves in the retail shoe business, married to a woman named Peg,a slave to polyester and bouffant hairdos..

Re: Original seamed fuel line - Bundy Tube
And what an improvement everyone thought "seamless" tube was/is. The engineer who first pulled a seamless tube over a caul thought he was pretty hot stuff.
"I'll make millions" - and he even might have. Now seamed tube is unobtainium. Replaced by an improved product. Except in Model A land. A microcosm of 1930 technology with overtones of 1950 (Rat rod) and 1980. (Rick Freeman) Joe K
