if you look up at the bottom of the light switch
you will see a small slot near the front of the switch put a small screwdriver in the slot and twrist slightly and turn the knob a little to the leaf and pull, it should come out of the switch with the shaft attached |

Here is a picture of the switch (shown upside down) and the small brass "tab" that must be depressed. Once the "tab" is depressed the knob can be turned about 1/4 turn to the left and released.
